‘’Fondements et enjeux communicationnels du sport en Afrique’’
Cet article présente de manière critique une étude unique en son genre. Il s’agit de la thèse d’une étudiante allemande qui était à la fois historienne et linguiste. Ce travail traite de la personnalité de l’écrivain français Paul-Louis Courier. La doctorante passe, pour argumenter ses avis, en revue la correspondance et la biographie, notamment militaire, de celui-ci. Le résultat de cette démarche, menée de façon chronologique, est fort surprenant car, sur la base d’une admiration globale de sa part, elle aboutit à une vision majoritairement négative du personnage. La justesse de son jugement est affaiblie par plusieurs argumentations à l’emporte-pièce et par des déductions subjectives ou fondées sur des données malheureusement bien partielles. Ceci étant posé, ce travail a le mérite de présenter Paul-Louis Courier au public allemand en soulignant des aspects bibliographiques qu’il connaissait mal.
This article critically presents a unique study of its kind. This is the thesis of a German student who was both historian and linguist. This work deals with the personality of the French writer Paul-Louis Courier. The doctoral student passes, in order to argue his opinions, in review the correspondence and the biography, in particular military, of this one. The result of this approach, conducted chronologically, is very surprising because, on the basis of a global admiration on his part, it leads to a predominantly negative vision of the character. The correctness of his judgment is weakened by several die-cut arguments and by subjective deductions or based on unfortunately very partial data. That being said, this work has the merit of presenting Paul-Louis Courier to the German public by highlighting bibliographic aspects that he did not know well.
